Notes

Film

  • Starts with Ben Kenobi hanging on the ledge shutting off the tractor beam and ends with Han murdering a Stormtrooper and then him and Chewbacca chasing the rest of the Stormtroopers.
  • "The new BT-16".

Podcast

  • Ben still isn't done with the tractor beam assignment.
  • The Stormtroopers guarding the tractor beam are looking everywhere EXCEPT for the main tractor beam control panel.
  • Alex reminds us that the Imperial's ultimate plan is to let our heroes escape so that they can track them. That's why the worst possible Stormtroopers are assigned to the task of 'capturing' our heroes.
  • Why do the Stormtroopers run away? Perhaps because Han shoots their leader. This leads to the pun in a later minute whereby Han runs into the cornered Stormtroopers and they realize that its just one guy chasing them, so they start to chase him instead.
  • Two Stormtroopers guarding the tractor beam have a very casual conversation. Other things they might have talked about.
  • The new BT-16. What is it? The 'brain-in-the-jar spider droid' seen in Jabba's Palace in ROTJ.
  • Referenced: Orange is the New Black.
  • These two Stormtroopers might be Tag and Bink. Other ways this scene may have played out.
  • Our heroes are now just walking around The Death Star with everyone else, and this is the tale end of them hiding their guns behind their backs and trying to disguise their faces. What this area on The Death Star might be.
  • If this movie was made today by Lucas, all of the people walking around on The Death Star would be CGI robots.
  • The mouse droid makes a casual appearance in this minute.
  • There are only six Stormtroopers guarding the Millennium Falcon; this proves that they want our heroes to escape OR they thought they had been crushed already.

  • Star Wars was a huge movie immediately and was instantly loved. Does this happen anymore given today's media / entertainment landscape?
  • Feedback that Pete and Alex receive about the podcast. Generally explanations of things in Star Wars.
  • Doug tried to not hate the Ewoks. Good warriors; good at making contraptions; have a lot of spirit; could do without the signing and the dancing.
  • Lucas took on the criticism regarding the Ewoks and came back hard with Jar Jar Binks. Alex asks, are we just too old?
  • Referenced: Titanic; Dark Knight; Avengers; Avatar.

Quotes

  • Doug: So they sent the worst shot and a bunch of runners.
  • Doug: Oh, you know what, that WAS quite a thing to see.
  • Pete: Jabba, you know, the HUTT!
  • Doug: Oh, you thought that was stupid.
