Obi-Wan masks his surprise as they move away along the corridor.

Notes

Film

  • Starts with Lama Su opening the "Master Sifo-Dyas" can of worms, and ends with Obi-Wan going to inspect the clone army (because that's...why he's here).
  • Lama Su blinking.

Podcast

Sifo-Dyas

  • Production backstory:
    • Originally supposed to be Sido-Dyas, as a thinly veiled pseudonym of "Sidious".
    • Somebody accidentally typoed it, and George liked it better, so he changed the plot of the movie to match.
      • Joseph is thankful for the typo. Good typo!
    • Why not have Sheev be the one who placed the order? You could even keep the typo if you want.
    • Lucas reacting (or overreacting) to feedback, like Ed Wood with a $90 million budget.
  • The name Sifo-Dyas had to be changed for the Portuguese version, because in Brazilian Portuguese the name is offensive.
  • In-Universe.
    • Sifo-Dyas' backstory is explained in the Clone Wars Cartoons.
    • He had the gift of foresight and knew an army would be needed.
    • The Council did not listen to him, so he ordered the clones on his own.
    • Sidious got wind of this and had him killed to take advantage.

Other Notes

  • Did Sheev have Dooku ready to go in the event Maul died?
    • Would he have had Maul and Dooku fight, the way he had Vader and Luke fight?
  • The dysfunctional Jedi council and government never ask where the clone army came from, they're prepared to use it.
  • The army is one of the finest they've ever created. That implies they've done this before.
    • What other clones have they made? Ewoks?
  • 1.2 million troops isn't enough for a global-scale conflict, much less a galactic war.
    • 690 million people fought in WWII alone.
    • Mistake? Or narrative choice?
  • Lama Su wipes something off his knee. They really are very clean and pedantic. Somebody probably got fired over this.
  • Lama Su is ready to hand over the clone army, even though Obi-Wan doesn't seem to know what's going on. Even if Kenobi had no idea, Lama Su would still have tried to sell them to him since they most likely haven't been paid.
  • Other things the cloners make, and ways to keep the clones regular or even so they produce no waste.
    • Cloned meat, also made from Jango Fett.
      • Everything there is made from Jango.
      • Cloned meat with pain receptors. Referenced: EV-99 from Jabba's palace.

Meta Minute

  • 26:12 podcast episode length.
  • Cultured meat (also known as in vitro meat) does already exist, but is not yet commercially viable. Read more at the Wikipedia article for cultured meat.

Quotes

  • Joseph: <menacing voice> I'm gonna stand next to you.
  • Pete: (As Lucas) You said what I wrote, so that must be good; I guess we got it.
  • Joseph: <facetiously> ...the Jedi, being good listeners were like "Nah."
  • Joseph: Can we talk to accounting? How did we pay for this?!
  • Joseph: Can you also make me some murder-bears?
  • Pete: Alien with a purpose: The Lama Su story.
  • Joseph (in response to magic space technology allowing for hyper-efficient digestion) Get on that...real life.
  • Joseph: You need another sample for WHAT?!
  • Pete: Now I know why you're on the apologist list. Joseph: I like the Prequels because they're about eating yourself.
