Slowly, hesitantly, Luke removes the mask from his father's face. There beneath the scars is an elderly man.

Starts with Luke struggling to get Darth Vader onto a ramp of some sort, and ends with Vader looking on Luke with his own eyes, just for once.

Why does Vader pick this moment to have Luke take his helmet off?
Luke has no trouble getting the mask off.
Luke immediately jumps to the conclusion that Vader will die if he takes the mask off. Maybe he knows something we don't.
