Notes

Film

  • Starts with Luke getting ready to spear a fish and ends with Rey being called by (what we assume is) a magic tree.
  • The first time we've seen someone in Star Wars go fishing, other than other fish.

Podcast

  • Why aren't Jedi vegetarians (like some Buddhists)? Or are they?
    • Is Luke eating fish meat because he had lost his connection with the Force?
  • Luke's fishing spear: did he invent it or was it there when he got there? Mentioned: the kid from Stephen King's It who "invented" the amazing gum-stick.
    • So, once he's spears it, how does he get the fish back up the (like, 50-foot) cliff? It's like when you're eating with chopsticks for the first time.
  • Can Luke Skywalker swim? It was part of the of the Rebel Alliance physical fitness test he had to pass.
  • What if Luke slipped off the pole and just died right here? Rey would have to make up a better story about why Luke didn't come back with her.
    • Maybe she could use this to her advantage.
  • Rey's really powerful with the Force, but Luke doesn't seem to know that yet.
    • Great question from Chris: have you ever met a human being who was really powerful/famous but you didn't know it because you met them in another context?
      • Pete worked with a professional wrestler once, but he knew that he was a professional wrestler so it doesn't count.
    • Generally speaking, if you're in the presence of a powerful person, do you automatically know it because they exude a special something, a je ne sais quoi?
    • Chris says no, he met a powerful person and didn't know they were powerful until they mentioned it.
      • the Jedi Council didn't recognize Anakin's power when they met him.
  • Daisy Ridley is 'adorkable' as Rey.
  • If Mark Hamill were to appear in the MCU, where should he appear?
    • He's the voice of Skeletor in the new "He-Man", and in the new "Dark Crystal".
    • Other voices in various other Marvel projects.
  • Detour into comic book and comic book adaptation talk.
    • Mentioned: the Star Wars Minute Listener's Society. Chris has been accused of being unkind to Star Wars actors, but he adores Mark Hamill and always wanted to be Luke Skywalker. It's always good to see Hamill getting work.
  • Our favorite Mark Hamill roles outside of Star Wars.
  • Radtke's picks.
  • Call 8-DAY-GREEDO.
  • The fan theory they're going to reboot the Star Wars franchise (à la the Kelvin timeline). Totally not going to happen.
  • Watch on YouTube!

Meta Minute

  • 29:23 podcast episode length.
  • There is a Wookieepedia entry for "{{{2}}}" but there is no mention of the dietary customs of the Jedi. However, we know that some species are obligate carnivores, including the Zabrak, and since there were Zabrak Jedi (such as Agen Kolar and Eeth Koth), that means that at least some Jedi ate meat.
  • The Chakri dynasty is the royal family of Thailand. King Rama X has two daughters who are princesses. He also has three sisters and two nieces who are also princesses. Lastly, the king's ex-wife is considered a princess as she is the mother of his oldest daughter.
  • Luke calling a lightsaber a "laser sword" was actually in minute 21.

Quotes

  • Alex: Another day, another dollar. Pete: Have you been giving Chris a dollar?!
  • Pete: (rudely, as the fish) Hey, Skywalker! Eat me!
  • Alex: (exasperated) Have you ever met a human being??
