The Empire employs plenty of negligent, bordering on incompetent officers. Many are so bad at their jobs that Alex and Pete are often forced to wonder if they are actually working for the Rebels the whole time. Below is a comprehensive list of Imperials who are suspected of being secret Rebel moles. The default sort order is by position on the organizational chart.

List of Imperials Secretly Working for the Rebellion

This article uses the Canon names for characters where possible; some of them have different names in Legends.

Name Minute Notes
Every Stormtrooper on The Death Star Star Wars 87 They are bad at everything and appear not to want to kill anyone.
Tarvyn Lareka (TK-4601) Star Wars 7 Oh, you just happened to set your gun on stun...
TK-9091 Star Wars 87 He told his partner to set his gun to stun.
Lieutenant Sheckl The Empire Strikes Back 101 On Cloud City, he was in on the plan to have the Bespin guards capture them. As he brought the prisoners to Vader's ship, he held his hands behind his back and looked up so he could pretend he didn't see the guards coming.
Captain Mod Terrik Star Wars 52 From now on, check all doors, even locked ones.
Gunnery Captain Bolvan Star Wars 8 If he hadn't held his fire, the droids would never have made it to Tatooine and none of this would have happened.
Commander Nemet The Empire Strikes Back 118 Every time Nemet is on a Star Destroyer that is trying to capture the Falcon, it always gets away. COINCIDENCE??
Captain Khurgee Star Wars 65 He made a pretty pathetic search of the Millennium Falcon on the Death Star and then in his subsequent report to Vader he tried to convince him that the crew and droids had jettisoned. He is either terrible at his job or he is a secret Rebel.
Admiral Ozzel The Empire Strikes Back 24 He came out of lightspeed a little too close to the system.
Lord Darth Vader* Star Wars 64

Star Wars 95

Star Wars 115
He was surprisingly lenient (from a certain point of view) in his treatment of Princess Leia.
In conjunction with the Emperor, he allows The Death Star to be put at risk (and ultimately blown up) to a) sweep away the existing Imperial bureaucracy and b) provide a rallying point for the rest of the Empire.
Darth Vader let Luke (his son!) blow up The Death Star.
Emperor Sheev Palpatine* Star Wars 95 In conjunction with Vader, he allows The Death Star to be put at risk (and ultimately blown up) to a) sweep away the existing Imperial bureaucracy and b) provide a rallying point for the rest of the Empire.
*Note - These two items may be more about Vader and the Emperor taking control of the Empire than them working directly for the Rebellion.

List of Hosts Secretly Working for the Empire

In ESB 55 guest Ryan Haupt notices that Pete and Alex are always acting as if all Jedis are:

  • Actually bad people.
  • Trying to prevent Luke from completing his training and becoming a Jedi.

Pete reveals that this is because he and Alex are Secret Imperial Agents and they are pulling the incredibly difficult "reverse Ozzel" (see above).
