Notes
Film
- Starts with Amidala saying "yes", ends with Qui-Gon telling Obi-Wan that he's been a good apprentice.
- Liam Neeson's lilting, Jedi Brogue.
Podcast
- The title of this movie.
- It describes exactly what's going on in the plot.
- Referring to the movies by title vs. episode number.
- Logic problems.
- Where'd the blockade go?
- Everything is proceeding according to Palpatine's design.
- Deleted line: Panaka notices that the blockade is gone.
.
- Jar Jar as the key to this movie.
- He's supposed to be annoying, but without him, the rest of the plot can't happen.
- Theme of not judging a book by its cover in these movies.
- Different film genres represented in Star Wars.
- Things that Jedi "can't do" that they end up doing.
- The Jedi are out of touch and arrogant.
- The Jedi are fine with using blasters when they fly their starfighters, but have to use a sword during land combat.
- Mounting lightsabers to the outside of their ships, or building a gun that shoots lightsabers.
Two cut scenes
- Cut at the outline stage.
- The blockade was still there.
- Obi-Wan comes up with the idea of having Anakin (because he's s great pilot with Jedi reflexes) make a jump to lightspeed to get past it (just like in Episode VII).
- Cut scene between Anakin and Padmé: "Hey! Where have you been?"
Other Notes
- Obi-Wan's age.
- In the Expanded Universe, Qui-Gon took Obi-Wan as his Padawan at the last moment before he turned 13.
- Call 8-DAY-GREEDO.
Meta Minute
- 26:56 podcast episode length.
- See a "the Battle of Naboo" as a slapstick silent film.
- A call for a Ken Burns' "The Empire" is a bit of a running theme on the show.
- The first pioneer of blaster technology was the Beam-tube blaster, and was in use as early as 25,000 BBY[1]. No one is sure when the first lightsaber was built, but Jedi researchers developed "frozen blaster" technology (a precursor to the lightsaber) as far back as 15,000 BBY[2]. Since the first lightsabers seem to derive from blasters, it would appear that blasters actually came first.
Quotes
